CHART PROJECTORS (all makes and models)

Lamp not illuminating
Switch the instrument off and on and listen for the sound of the motors. Usually after the motors have stopped turning, a relay is heard to click. If this happens, it usually means a replacement lamp is needed. If a new lamp is fitted and still does not illuminate, it may need repair to the lamp connections. Call us for a service visit.

Lamp dim
This problem is usually caused by one of the following.

  1. The lamp is not correctly seated in it's mounting. To check for this, switch the instrument on and hold a piece of tissue paper over the front lens. You should see a clear magnified image of the lamp filament right in the centre of the paper. Alternatively, you may see 2 images of the filament one on top of the other but located centrally. If the illumination is off to one side, try to re-position the lamp correctly. WARNING: WHEN CHANGING OR ADJUSTING LAMPS, MAKE SURE THEY HAVE HAD ENOUGH TIME TO COOL AS THEY MAY CAUSE BURNS WHEN HOT.
  2. The instrument is not fitted with the correct lamp. If it is not possible to position the filament correctly, it may be that the lamp fitted is not the correct type as intended by the manufacturer. Check our bulbs and consumable items list to ensure you have the correct one.
  3. Instrument not working at all
If your chart projector is connected through a refraction stand, there is usually a switch to turn the chart projector on and off. Ensure this is switched on.

The Topcon ACP-7 has a mains lead which pushes into the underside of the instrument. After a while, gravity can cause the plug to become loose and the instrument not to work. Try pushing the mains lead home firmly into it's socket.
